From a swimming perspective, Potomac Valley survived Y2K without any serious disruptions. In fact, the new year is quickly taking shape as one of our banner years for growth in terms of registered athletes. With so many other sports competing against swimming, it is still very rewarding to witness the high popularity of this sport.
The first half of the short course season has concluded with great meets and great swimming at all levels. Wasting no time, we are in high gear heading into the second half of the season. Championship meets will soon be upon us, including the Eastern Zone Championship in our backyard.
With that kind of momentum, seize the opportunity to promote swimming wherever you go. The idea is to get as many kids interested as possible. Share the features and benefits of the sport. Encourage creativity to make the competitiveness of swimming that much more enjoyable.
Lets do our very best to keep our athletes in the water for a long time to come. But, by the same token, keep building your base so that the newer athletes can experience first hand, the fun, excitement, and enjoyment of competitive swimming. Come out and get involved with the second half of our short course season. The upcoming championship meets, undoubtedly, are going to produce some fast swimming. Don't miss it.

Registration NewsThe Office has spoken to several club registrars in the past few months regarding our proposed plan for 2001 registration. As USA Swimming moves into the new millenium so does their registration procedures. PVS is currently planning to have electronic uploads from Team Manager directly to the registration database. This will increase turn around time and accuracy and decrease paperwork. Although clubs will need to complete USA Swimming registration forms they will not need to turn them into the LSC registrar. Meaning no bulky mailings. Electronic transfers will be uploaded in late September.
Details will be forwarded to club registrars when finalized, testing, and training to begin in mid to late spring.
Just a couple interesting facts about how registration and Meet Recon are handled around the country.
