PVS Swimmers Compete at
2008 U.S. Paralympics Swimming Trials
PVS swimmers Anna Johannes (Potomac Marlins) and Lynn Wymelenberg (UNAT) qualified for and competed at the U.S. Paralympics Swimming Trials meet in Minneapolis MN, April 3-5. This competition was used to select the team that will represent the United States at the Paralympics, to be held in Beijing from Sept 6-17.
The PVS swimmers should be congratulated for the excellent swims that they accomplished at this meet. Anna finished first in both the Women's 200 LCM Individual Medley (SM9 classification) as well as in the Women's 100 LCM Breast (SB8 classification). She also finished second in the Women's 100 LCM Back (S9 classification). Her time in the 200 IM currently places her 16th in the International Paralympic Committee World Rankings for that classification. And her 100 M Breast time is 21st in the World Rankings. In addition, her preliminary time in the Women's LCM Butterfly (S9 classification) is ranked 14th in the current World Rankings.
Lynn finished second in the Women's 200 LCM Breast (SB9 classification). And her preliminary time in the Women's 50 Free (S10 classification) achieved 18th place in the World Rankings.
