Important Notice: Warm-up and Session Start Times are subject to adjustment once entries for both PVS Senior Long Course and PVS 12 &Under Championships have been received.
Eligibility: Open to all registered Potomac Valley Swimming athletes. A contestant may participate in only his or her own age group.
Qualifying Time: Contestants must have equaled or bettered the applicable no slower than (NST) times listed, or 2001 "AAA" or better short course times. Short course entry times are non-conforming times and will be seeded after long course entry times.
Warnings:

Any club that enters an unregistered or improperly registered athlete, falsifies an entry in any way, or permits an unregistered coach to represent them, will be fined the sum of $100.00 and no further entries will be accepted from that club until the said fine has been paid.

All entry times and USA Swimming memberships are subject to verification. Any athlete not achieving a QT, may be asked to prove the entry time to the Meet Director prior to the end of the meet.

Entry fees are due with meet entry. Unpaid fees will be reported to the PVS Administrative Office at the conclusion of the meet.

Rules:

Current USA Swimming rules shall govern the meet. All events are timed finals. A contestant may enter no more than three events per day or six for the meet.

SEED TIMES ARE LONG COURSE METERS

No late entries are permitted for this meet.

The "No Recall" procedures will be used at this meet.

Positive Check In:

All events 200 meters or longer will be deck seeded The Meet Director will determine if positive check-in will be required for any events of 100 meters or shorter.

Athletes who check in to a deck-seeded event, have been seeded, and fail to swim the event will be barred from their next scheduled individual event, unless excused by the Referee before the event takes place.

Warm-up: The prescribed Potomac Valley Swimming warm-up procedures and safety policies will be followed. The meet director may determine the structure of the warm-up, including times and lane assignments.
Awards: Medals will be awarded 1st through 8th place for individual events and 1st through 3rd place for relay events. High point awards will be presented to the male and female athlete with the highest point total in individual events in each age group.
Scoring: Events: 20, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Relays: 40, 34, 32, 30, 28, 26, 24, 22, 18, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2
Officials: Officials assigned to this meet sign in at the recording table at the start of the warm-up. Certified officials, who have not been contacted, should volunteer their services to the referee.
Timers: Participating clubs are required to provide timers in proportion to their entries. The meet director will determine the number of timers per club and lane assignments. The host club is required to provide one timer per lane.
Supervision: Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their swimmers and for cleaning up their team areas.
Credentials: Parents not working the meet as a deck official, volunteer lane timer, or other meet position are not permitted on deck. Only athletes, USA Swimming certified coaches, and deck officials are permitted on the pool deck. Coaches and deck officials are required to display their current USA Swimming card.
Admission/ Programs: There is no admission charge. The meet program will be available for $4.00. Working Officials will receive a daily program free.
Fees: Fees for individual events are $4.75; relay events are $9.50.
Meet Entry Procedures: General Instructions:
  • Entires may be submitted (1) manually, (2) by sending a disk to the meet director or (3) via e-mail.
  • Follow the instructions under the appropriate heding below. The immediately following rules apply regardless of method chosen.
    • Each club is requested to remit one check to cover the entry fees for the entire team. Please put the club name on the entry check (if not a club check) and note the number of entries. Please do not send cash. Meet directors have been instructed not to accept telephone or fax entries.
    • Entries not submitted on the required forms, not complete, not legible or not in the required electronic format, will not be accepted and will be returned. The Meet Director will not be held responsible if there is no time to properly resubmit the entry.
    • Individual or unattached entries will only be accepted by manual entry sent to the address listed below or by e-mail containing all the particulars required by the master entry sheet.
Manual Entries:
  • Manual entries must be submitted on the PVS master entry sheet. Also submit a completed "entry cover sheet". Signature and phone number of a club official must be included with entry for validation of entries. Short course entry times must be designated with a capital letter "Y".
  • There will be a $1.00 surcharge per athlete for manual entries of 10 or more.
Disk Entries: E-mail Entries:
  • Club E-mail entries will be accepted provided the transmission time is prior to entry deadline.
  • Attach one report by event, one by name (save as Word for Windows in Team Manager)
  • Attach commlink file
  • In body of e-mail give total number of splashes including relays (men, women, total entry) and contact information (name, phone, e-mail address)
  • Remember to also send entry fee check via USPS
  • Clubs submitting by email should submit entries to tonnesen@erols.com, in the subject heading type, "2001 PVS LC Age Grp Champs - ****" with the club's initials substituted in place of the asterisks.
Deadline: The meet manager must receive all entries for this meet no later than
5:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2001.
